Hugh Jackman thanked Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for speaking “bravely” and “honestly” during the Oprah Winfrey interview about mental health issues and “their cry for help.”
In the interview, Meghan told Oprah that she was thinking about suicide and that she was trying to get help during her time as a working royal.
After it aired, Hugh shared a candid video on Instagram urging his followers to follow the conversation, which he thought was “such an incredible example of never worrying about yourself,” after seeing him and his wife. to Deborra-Lee Furness.
“I recommend Oprah’s interview with Meghan and Harry, which Deb and I and millions of people around the world watched in amazement last night,” he said.
“Because there I witnessed a woman with an incredibly high profile and her husband spoke so openly, bravely, sincerely, with such dignity about the hardest moments of their lives and their cry for help.”
The 52-year-old Australian actor explained that he is part of the board of Gotcha4Life, which he described as “an organization in Australia that deals with this issue of suicide as well as mental state”.
He said watching Meghan and Harry’s interview reinforced the importance of seeking help and “never worry about yourself.”
“Last night I just thought that everyone should see this because it’s such an incredible example to never worry about yourself. Seek help and if you do not get help where you are looking for it, keep looking, βhe said.
“Go elsewhere because there is always help. So never worry about yourself and I just want to thank you Meghan, thank you Harry for your courage. β
During an interview called “Oprah With Meghan and Harry” which was broadcast on the American network CBS and on Channel 10 in Australia, Meghan told Oprah that she contemplated suicide during her period of royal operation.
“I just didn’t see a solution,” she admitted.
“Look, I was really ashamed to have to say it at the time, and I was ashamed to admit it, especially to Harry, because I know how much he suffered, but I knew that if I didn’t say I would -Oh … and I just didn’t want to be alive. And this was a very clear, real and scary constant thought. β
Subsequently, the duchess said that both she and her husband had repeatedly asked for the institution’s help, both for their mental health and for their safety, and were refused.
The couple discussed many aspects of their time in the UK, including some of the biggest revelations, including Meghan, who describes how an undisclosed member of the royal family expressed “concern” about how Dark would be Archie’s skin, she and Harry’s first child. either when she was born and that Kate Middleton made her cry.
