Fallout: Frontier is a huge expansion mode for Fallout: New Vegas, which has been in the works for years. It adds an area with a completely new map and story in New Vegas, set in the snow-capped desert of Portland, where three new factions are at war. The big project launches today and it sounds sure that people are excited to play it.
“The frontier is an open world, similar in size to the DC desert, featuring a completely snow-covered Portland Oregon with real-world landmarks and locations,” say the creators. They say the modified expansion takes place at the same time as Fallout: New Vegas itself, so you’ll take your familiar courier north to investigate a new conflict.
In the wilderness of Oregon you will find a group of exiled NCR troops fighting a Northern Legion faction and Steel Brotherhood refugees. You can see the new launch trailer above, which explains to the three faction leaders why they fight to the snow.
You can find more details on The Frontier website and it sounds pretty impressive. The creators say there are three major quest lines and a good chunk of side missions, adding boss battles, new enemies, new creatures and extra energy weapons. Moreover, everything includes voice action, which is always an achievement for a huge modding project.
You can download Fallout: Frontier from Nexus Mods or Steam. However, be patient with the Nexus link. Nexus alerted players via their Discord server that “the usual Friday night traffic and massive interest in Fallout: The Combined Frontier is really hitting our servers.”
Enjoy the north coast, couriers. Just don’t rush all at once.
