How to know if Verizon remembered Jetpack Hotspot

If you have one of three different models of an Ellipsis Jetpack hotspot – the same Jetpack hotspot you purchased from Verizon to allow nearby devices access to 4G connectivity – you’ll want to stop using them. Verizon recalls about 2.5 million of these hotspots due to concerns about their lithium-ion batteries could overheat and cause a fire (or give you a decent burn).

The three models in question are Ellipsis Jetpack MHS900L, MHS900LS, and MHS900LPP. If you own one, you will want to take it next steps before shipping it back to Verizon:

“If the device is turned off, please turn it on so that affected Ellipsis Jetpack devices can receive automatic over-the-air software updates that will:

  1. Display the device ID number (IMEI) on the scrolling screen, which will help you switch
  2. Prevent the device from charging while connected and turned on.

You will know that the software update has been applied when you see the scroll ID number on the device screen.

  • After applying the software update, users should leave the device turned on while connected.
  • When not in use, the device must be switched off, disconnected from the power supply and stored safely until you receive the packaging to return the Ellipsis Jetpack safely. ”

The IMEI number is essential, as this will make the recall process run with Verizon when you call 855-205-2627 or visit www.EllipsisJetpackRecall.expertinquiry.com to begin. As part of the recall, you’ll get a free hotspot to replace the dangerous Ellipsis Jetpacks, and you should also receive a free return envelope to ship your Jetpack back to Verizon for disposal.

As indicated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s opinion, Verizon handled about 15 or more reports of Jetpacks overheating, including six reports of fire damage and two burns. This is a fairly small number, given the number of Ellipsis Jetpacks, but this is not something you will want to delay if you own one. It might not be much easier to initiate the recall at the end; don’t procrastinate, or you’ll forget.
