How to give up WhatsApp permanently

WhatsApp has been the de facto messaging application in countries around the world for years. But recently, some news about the company extremely shady changes in privacy policy determined many to consider switching to another service. After all, there are a lot of options out there, most of which are not owned by Facebook.

You can easily give up WhatsApp and save your old messages if you decide you have arrived.

Before deleting your account, you’ll want to export your chats. Fortunately, it’s simple. Just tap the name of the thread you want to save, located at the top, then scroll down to Export chat. You can choose whether to save all photos and videos included in the thread.

Now it’s time to request all your account details. Press Settings in the lower right corner of the application. Then tap Account and Request account information. WhatsApp says it takes about three days to receive the report, but the company warns you when it’s ready.

Take a deep breath and get ready to clear your account before delete the application from your phone. Under the Settings and Account, Touch Delete my account. Deleting your account will delete your messages, remove you from group chats, and delete your backup. It’s really that simple.

As you can see, leaving WhatsApp is actually quite easy. The difficult part will be to convince your friends, family and colleagues to give up the Facebook messaging application. Luck!
