Apple has launched new privacy tags for iOS (the equivalent of the application nutrition label) for both its own and third-party applications. Read on about how you can check iOS privacy details for apps in the App Store, as well as those that are preloaded on iPhone and iPad, to fully understand how your information is used.

Apple first introduced the new iOS app privacy details initiative during WWDC in June 2020. They are now live in the App Store for Apple apps and third-party software, as well as on the Apple website for its apps that are not in the Store application (pre-installed applications).

Apple describes the privacy details of the iOS app as similar to the nutrition labels on food. Apple’s goal with this initiative is to better inform users about the privacy practices of individual applications. IOS app privacy tags are divided into three parts:

  • Data used to track you
  • Data related to you
  • Data that is not related to you

How to check the privacy details of the iOS application for iPhone and iPad

For Apple and third-party apps in the App Store

  • From your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store app
  • Search for or drag up an app where you want to see privacy details
  • Swipe down under the app description and ratings until you see Application privacy
  • touch view details to the full privacy details of the iOS app
  • You can also find privacy details on the web for apps, just search the web for the ‘app name’ of the app store, and you’ll see the privacy tag under reviews (click ‘View details’ for the full summary)

For Apple apps that are not in the App Store
