Setting messages to “auto-delete” is great because it kills two birds with one stone: the various apps and social networks won’t clog up with conversations that don’t matter anymore and you won’t have to worry about privacy issues coming up with leaving your messages forever. I especially like Telegram’s new approach to automatically delete old messages: the app can now delete entire conversations for both parties. Sorry, people looking through old chats to surprise you with something you said a few months ago.

To get started with this always useful feature, make sure you’ve upgraded to the latest version of Telegram for Android or iOS, then launch the application and resume a conversation. On Android, tap the three-dot icon, select “Delete history,” and choose your duration

On iOS, tap and hold any message in the group chat. You’ll see an option to “Select” that message. Touch it, then tap “Delete chat” in the upper left corner. You will then receive this request:

Touch Enable automatic deletion, and you’ll be able to select whether chat messages should disappear for all members after a day or week.

Whatever you choose, on any platform, your group chat will automatically inform everyone that messages will be deleted automatically. Be prepared for the response attack that will follow.

This is. We recommend that you enable this because, honestly, how often do you ever go back and look at old messages? If you think you’ll need to refer to something, you can always take a screenshot before the message is removed.

How to create limited time Telegram invitation links

Speaking of privacy, the Telegram update also adds new expiring invitations to the mix. This feature means that you can send invitations to different groups and channels without worrying about those links, giving anyone who finds them access to your chats forever.

To get started (at least on iOS), drag a group or channel up, tap its icon in the upper right corner, and tap Add members. Press Invite the group via the link, then press Manage invitation links. Press Create a new linkand you will then be able to limit how many times that link uses a period of time (from one hour to a week), the expiration date, or the number of users (and uses).

While I’d love to see if the feature comes with the option to fire people after a period of inactivity (such as temporary Discord invitations to servers), Telegram updates still provide incredibly useful ways to manage your chat. wider.
