How To 12-Man Raid In ‘Destiny 2’, is perhaps the biggest glitch to date

Well, a new exploit is circulating in Destiny 2 and it’s time to try it before it’s fixed. Before you start yelling at me because I’m talking about this, I really know that Bungie is good aware of this already (a lot of major streamers have done this), so a solution is probably on the way. But until then, it’s time to have fun.

What happens? The way it works is that you can have:

  • Fire crews of 7-12 people in raids.
  • Fights of 4-9 people in dungeons and night falls.

I think this was discovered a week or two ago, but it seems to be just making the rounds now. How do you do it? Here’s Cheese Forever talking about tactics if you want to see a video about it, but I’ll explain below,

In short, you need a fire team to join another at zero seconds when an activity is launched. This is the easiest thing to do on a PC with association codes and you just need to reduce the time. For example, for a 12-person raid, you need to have a team of six people joining another team of six people with a single invitation, which, if properly synchronized, will pull the group completely separate from six in the raid to a total of 12.

The same goes for night falls and dungeons, only the cover is 9, because you can only start it with a team of three. And this can be done by fewer players, of course, if you just want a fourth person to run it or something. Again, it’s just about synchronization. This can work on the console, it’s just harder to make time and run due to lack of membership codes, but you can accept invitations or join from the list there. You want to time it so that you join shortly before launching the activity, because it takes a short time to join, if you try to reach that “join to zero” sign. If you have an overabundance of people in orbit, it’s too early. If you can’t get into business, it’s too late.

This tactic, of course, makes all these activities better, but it is not like the current raids. that difficult to start, so I don’t think this hurts much. It’s not like breaking a raid or people exploiting GM Nightfalls farming for crazy rewards. That being said, I don’t expect this ability to last forever, so if you want to try it yourself, you probably want to try it fast enough before a quick fix becomes active.

So yeah, just a fun thing to experiment with. I’d love to see Destiny increase the number of players and the size of the fire team in the future, because I’m imagining things like loading 12 people for an Altars of Sorrow or a public (uninterrupted) Escalation Protocol event or, of course, Bungie designing a raid meant to be for 12 people in the first place. I don’t think this will probably happen, but if not, we can only see how this could go with this exploit (spoiler: it’s crazy). Enjoy.
