House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump see fundraising momentum

As they prepare to face primary challengers, the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach then-President Donald Trump after his supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan.6 have raised significantly more money in the first quarter of 2021 than two years earlier.

The group, using the might of power, also engulfed their main opponents of the GOP in almost every instance during the first round of fundraising since Mr. Trump got angry with their votes, new requests from the Federal Election Commission show.

While all incumbents held out the challengers who submitted campaign finance reports, it is still early in the two-year election cycle and money is only one factor in the typically low turnout for primaries.

Mr Trump’s political action committees could also weigh in on some of the matches financially, and his statements of support could weigh significantly on the party’s base. The PACs don’t have to report their latest totals until July, but one of them, Save America PAC, started the year with $ 31 million in the bank and has continued to raise funds ever since.

In a speech earlier this year at the Conservative Political Action Conference where he named all 10 of them, Trump told his supporters to “get rid of them all” in next year’s election.
