“They have told us that President Biden’s government has provided $ 4,000 million,” he stressed, citing Honduras indicating that these are being implemented by the agencies the US government deems.

He recalled that Honduras, with the support of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), already has a study gathering all the information on the consequences of the passage of the Eta and Iota tropical storms and on the areas where measures must be taken to serve the affected population.

The delegation confirmed in Washington that 95% of the Hondurans who have integrated the recent migration mobilizations are originally from the areas affected by both weather phenomena.

“With that map we will have technical meetings where they can structure and get their help depending on the needs of the reconstruction itself,” he said.

“The United States’ interventions will aim to mitigate these origins, which are today’s migration problems. Those causes that are structural are the ones that we have agreed upon and that we need to combat, ”he added.
