“I have been offering personal choice in Salem since the beginning on August 31, 2020. The school division in Salem now meets the VDOE / governor’s expectations for personal learning and has been since the schools opened in August last year. We will continue to do this, while respecting the recommendations for maintaining physical distance and covering the face “, said a school spokesperson in an e-mail to 10 News. “We are still in the same plan, which worked well and allowed us to adhere to the social distance of 6 meters in our uniquely designed buildings. If the recommendation for physical distance changes, allowing us to increase the number of students who can attend school safely, we are well positioned to move to higher levels of student participation. We recognize that online learning has been a struggle for many, and as a result, we are implementing plans to help these students with more face-to-face learning opportunities.
