It’s back to Texas for Heidi Cruz and the kids.
The family of Lone Star State Senator Ted Cruz was seen in line at the Cancun airport Saturday afternoon for the two and a half hour flight home.
The senator’s brood had moved on without him on their Wednesday through Saturday vacation at the Mexican resort, after Cruz himself had become embarrassed to turn the tail and leave the tone-deaf trip.
Cruz has faced a massive backlash to his trip to Cancun, with Houston’s own police chief accusing the senator of leaving millions of voters due to historically cold weather, ongoing power outages, and escalating water shortages.
Even ex-NJ Governor Chris Christie has enjoyed a moment of gloating at his expense.
Cruz had at one point blamed the trip on his daughters, who are 10 and 12 years old, saying that they asked for the trip and that he was just a ‘good father’.
But now the children are quarantined for seven to 10 days at their expensive private school in Houston.
