Health reports 15 deaths and 234 additional cases confirmed by COVID-19

The report of the Department of Health reported 15 deaths due to COVID-19; meanwhile, 234 confirmed cases, 53 probable cases and 141 additional suspicious cases were registered.

In addition, two probable deaths were recorded, corresponding to an 82-year-old woman from the Bayamón region and a 59-year-old man from the Caguas region.

With these additional deaths, the confirmed deaths amount to 1,179, and the probable ones are 244, so the total number of deaths is 1,423.

According to the agency, the change in the number of deaths should not be interpreted as occurring in the last 24 hours. Similarly, Salud points out that the death report may vary, as the processes of recording and coding the causes of death take place, which could take several days.

On the other hand, the total results of the cases confirmed by COVID-19 is 66,871, of which 36,018 are women and 30,853 are men. The reported cases are those that have a positive PCR test, with a sampling date of December 8-22. The total was adjusted after the addition of 54 cases with sampling data between October 22 and December 7.

The report includes the results of antigen tests, which the CDC lists as probable cases. The total positive results in these tests are 3,937, which was adjusted after subtracting 22 cases that had a subsequent positive molecular test and were added to the confirmed cases reported in this report; In addition, a case with a sampling date of 4 December was added. The additional probable cases reported are 53, which include samples taken between December 8-22. The sex distribution is 2,184 women and 1,753 men.

As part of the report, an additional 141 suspicious cases were reported, with a sampling date ranging from 8 to 22 December. These cases, by definition, are those that have a positive serological test. In this line, the total is 51,209 after being adjusted, decreasing 33 cases that had a positive molecular test and one case that had a positive antigen test and were added to the confirmed and probable cases, respectively, recorded as part of this report. . On the other hand, five cases with sampling data recorded between 25 and 30 November were added. The suspected cases are divided into 28,713 women and 22,496 men.
