I already knew that a cheaper HBO Max subscription level would soon come, with advertising support, and now the streamer’s parent company has made it official.
AT&T, which owns the WarnerMedia entertainment division that includes HBO Max with Warner Bros. Movie Studio, confirmed today in an Investor Day update posted on its website that an ad version of HBO Max will be released in June. The launch is also scheduled for a much larger expansion of HBO Max: “AT&T expects to launch HBO Max in 60 markets outside the United States in 2021 (39 Latin American and Caribbean territories by the end of June and 21 of European territories in the second half of 2021) ”, explains the updating of the company’s strategy.
As mentioned, an HBO Max subscription currently costs $ 14.99 / month in the US and we don’t know yet where the price of this new HBO Max level will land.
