Fans of Transformers, My Little Pony and Dungeons & Dragons will have more ways to experience their favorite toys and games.

On Thursday, Hasbro shared its plans for dozens of movies and TV shows based on its iconic intellectual property on Investors’ Day.

The Rhode Island toy maker has long been in the entertainment industry with movie franchises such as Transformers and animated TV shows based on My Little Pony. However, after the $ 3.8 billion acquisition of Entertainment One at the end of 2019, Hasbro managed to triple its number of entertainment projects.

“Between 2022 and 2023, you should watch two to three movies each year from us and three to four live shows,” Brian Goldner, CEO of Hasbro, said in an interview. “And then we’ll scale it as we add a new IP, while doing subsequent seasons of shows we’ve already done. [created]. “

These future projects range from theater launches to competition shows without screenplays.

Hasbro previously announced a series of projects such as “GI Joe: Snake Eyes”, which will take place in cinemas in October; a feature film Dungeons & Dragons with Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Rege-Jean Page, as well as an animated television series Clue.

In addition, the toy maker has unveiled plans for unscripted projects based on Monopoly, Mouse Trap, Easy Bake, Operation, Nerf and Play-Doh.

Feature films

“First come first served” – Arriving on October 22, “Snake Eyes” stars Henry Golding. The film explores the original story of the iconic character GI Joe, who is often dressed in black, with a mask covering his face and is one of the most skilled operators in the organization.

Power Rangers – Jonathan Entwistle, who produced the Netflix series “I’m Not Alright With This” and “The End of the World F ******”, will direct a new film about Power Rangers for Hasbro.

Dungeons and Dragons – Jeremy Latcham, a producer with six Marvel movies under his belt, is one of the brains behind the upcoming film Dungeons & Dragons which is being created in partnership with Paramount Pictures. The film will star Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Rege-Jean Page and will be written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who wrote “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

Magic the Gathering – Hasbro has announced that it will work on a feature film based on the Magic the Gathering property with Fox.

Transformers – In addition to a live-action feature film to be released in theaters next year as part of its partnership with Paramount, Hasbro is also working on a new animated feature film for the toy’s ownership.

My Little Pony Movie – A new CG movie My Little Pony will come on Netflix in the fall.

Screenplay series

Risk – A screenplay TV show from Beau Willimon (“House of Cards”) will draw its inspiration from Risk, a board game in which players aim for global conquest through war, strategy and diplomacy.

Key – There are few details about Hasbro’s plan for this animated series based on the popular board game, but Hasbro’s Goldner promises that the Fox show will be thrilling and capture what has made Clue so popular over the years. Expect a few adult themes with this animated series.

Transformers – In addition to movies, Hasbro is expected to release two new Transformers shows. One is called “Bot Bots,” which is a 20-episode animated comedy series set to debut on Netflix. The other is an animated series made in partnership with Nickelodeon. This series will have 26 half-hour episodes.

My little Pony – After the debut of a movie My Little Pony on Netflix, Hasbro will launch a TV series with Sunny Starscout and her friends.

Power Rangers – Hasbro is currently filming a new series called “Dino Fury”.

and Joe – The company plans to bring a series of live GI Joe shares on Amazon. The series will be centered around undercover agent Lady Jaye and will connect to the larger GI Joe universe.

Magic the Gathering “An animated show will head to Netflix,” the company announced Thursday.

Dungeons and Dragons– Hasbro is developing television series based on the iconic board game that will debut after the feature film.

“Kiya” – Hasbro has unveiled a new eOne series called “Kiya”, which centers around a superhero who saves the day with martial arts and dance. The series, originally from South Africa, is intended for children aged 3 to 6 and will debut on Disney Jr. and Disney + in 2023. The series will have 52 episodes, each lasting about 11 minutes.

TV without script

Hasbro has already released a baking show based on its board game Candy Land with Food Network, but it doesn’t stop there. The company is looking to do more shows without scripts and compete with other properties in the future.
