“Invictus’ Heart”, a series of docs from Harry and Meghan’s production company Archewell Productions, will be followed by a group of extraordinary competitors from around the world, all members of the service who have suffered injuries or illnesses that have changed lives on the road to the Invictus Hague 2020 Games, to be held in 2022, “Netflix said Monday.
Prince Harry, a military veteran, founded Invictus Games in 2014. The event offers sporting events for injured service members.
The multi-episode series, a partnership between Archewell Productions and The Invictus Games Foundation, will be followed by competitors and event organizers.
“I could not be more excited about the journey ahead or more proud of the Invictus community for the continued inspiration of global healing, human potential and ongoing service,” Prince Harry said in a statement. He will serve as executive producer of the series and will appear on camera.
The Invictus Games Foundation will also be an executive producer, and the project will “provide significant funding to the organization,” according to Netflix (NFLX).
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Archewell Productions team are building an ambitious slate that reflects their values and causes,” Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said Monday. “From the moment I met them, it was clear that the Invictus Games have a very special place in their hearts, and I couldn’t be happier that their first Netflix series will present this to the world in a way that never before now. “
The couple signed a multi-year production deal with the streaming company in September. Includes series with screenplays, docuseries, documentaries, features and children’s programming. Financial conditions were not disclosed.
Harry and Meghan come in a wide-ranging interview on CBS with Oprah Winfrey last month. The special, a cultural sensation that sparked news, conversations and even memes on the Internet, had an average of 17.1 million viewers in the United States.
