Moving away from her trusted driver, Happy Gilmore – the protagonist of the eponymous film of the ’90s, played by actor Adam Sandler – took to Twitter with his running and swing.
The reappearance of one of Sandler’s great characters is the 25th anniversary of the film’s release and he took the opportunity to overshadow his enemy Shooter McGavin.
“It’s been 25 years since we did that,” he said. “I’m afraid!”
Never one to be upset, Shooter McGavin – Gilmore’s rival in the film, played by Christopher McDonald – pulled back.
“It’s about the short game,” he said. “Drive for the show, putt for the dough!”
Award-winning actor Ben Stiller, who played the unfortunate owner of a nursing home, who takes very bad care of Gilmore’s grandmother, responded to Sandler’s video.
The hit film became a benchmark of comedy in pop culture when it was released in 1996, with both sports fans and film fans celebrating its legacy.
“The Gulf legend lives on forever,” it was said.
