It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen him Halo Infinite in action through new gameplay movies, but that hasn’t stopped 343 Industries from continuing to share more about the game as usual. Recently, this trend in the studio has continued in a fairly substantial way, as 343 has now shown a whole new weapon that players will be able to use as Master Chief in the highly anticipated shooter.
Highlighted in the latest Inside Infinite blog on the Halo website, 343 Industries revealed the first image of the Skewer. The pistol is one that has not appeared in any previous Halo title and is one that is usually handled by Banished, which is a group that will serve as one of the main antagonists within Infinite. The skewer is described as a weapon of power and is meant to have a more “wild” nature, given that it is a weapon wielded by brutes. “Banished armament has a more primitive feel than some of the other factions, so this requires a strong sense of organic matter in the content, which helps to build a strong base and sell their mechanical nature,” the sound designer explained. 343, Kyle Fraser. “Even though I mentioned primitively in my previous sentence, Brutes are generally extremely intelligent and use this knowledge to incorporate more technological advances into their equipment, so we make sure to bring some interesting SF elements to help sell the fantasy. . “
343 highlighted Skewer, in particular, to talk about how the studio is approaching the creation of new sound effects for new weapons appearing in series. Money being a relatively group of fighters, the studio had to think a little more out of the box to make the Skewer’s sounds much more unique.
