Half of US adults have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine

Half of American adults have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday.

Nearly 130 million people, or about 50.4 percent of the total adult population, have received at least one vaccine, the CDC said.

Meanwhile, nearly 84 million adults – about 32.5 percent of the population – are fully vaccinated, the agency said.

There are currently two vaccines available – a two-dose vaccine developed by Pfizer, another two-dose vaccine by Moderna – after federal regulators temporarily discontinued the use of a third, a single-dose jab by Johnson & Johnson, in response to reports of rare blood clots.

Federal officials have not yet determined whether the vaccine caused blood clotting problems.

But Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Sunday that he believes regulators will resume using gunfire sometime this week, possibly with restrictions or warnings.

“I would be very surprised if we don’t resume in some form by Friday,” he told CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “I don’t really anticipate that they will want to stretch a little further.”
