Half of all adults in the United States have now received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, marking a major milestone in the country’s largest vaccination campaign.

More than 129 million people aged 18 and over received at least one stroke, or 50.4% of the total adult population, according to the CDC. Over 83 million adults, or 32.5% of the total adult population, are fully vaccinated with one of three vaccines approved in the United States

The benchmark comes a day after the total death toll from the virus reached 3 million people, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, with global deaths averaging about 12,000 each day.

In the US, the daily rate of new cases of Covid-19 nationwide remains high. The country reports an average of about 68,000 new infections every day. CDC data show an average of 3.3 million daily vaccine doses reported in the last week.

Jeff Zients, the Covid-19 White House response coordinator, said the break in Johnson & Johnson vaccinations, which came after reports of six cases of rare blood clots, would not slow the vaccine campaign as the country has a sufficient amount of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

White House Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday he believes the United States is likely to resume use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine with a warning or restriction attached and anticipates a decision as soon as Friday when the CDC advisory group meets. to discuss the resumption.

“My estimate is that we will continue to use it in one form or another,” Fauci said in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “I seriously doubt it if it just cancels it out. I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
