The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Sunday that 130 million adults in the United States, or 50.4 percent of the population over the age of 18, have received at least one COVID-19 immunization vaccine. Nearly 84 million adults, or 32.5% of the population, have been completely vaccinated. The benchmark comes as the total death toll in COVID-19 fell by 3 million, according to Johns Hopkins University. While vaccine reluctance is expected to be challenging in the coming months, polls show a growing desire to receive the vaccine, with a survey showing that the number of adult Americans wishing to receive the vaccine rose from 67% in January. at 75% a more recent survey. U.S. officials have said they do not expect the recent break in Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine to affect vaccine accessibility, with Dr. Anthony Fauci saying he expects a decision on the single-dose vaccine soon. “I would be very surprised if we do not resume in a certain form until Friday,” said Fauci.
