DENVER – While The Grizzly Rose’s voicemail guarantees that all public health safety guidelines will be followed in the ballroom and bar, hundreds of people are packed on Saturday.
Open only on Friday and Saturday, Grizzly Rose, which opened in 1989, was a local favorite in Denver.
Jenny Orin said it is a much-loved place in the community, but she was shocked to see crowds packed into the bar on Saturday night on social media.
Orin’s sister saw videos of Snapchat on Saturday night and showed it to her.
“It seems that maybe at the beginning they were good in terms of social distance. They were six feet apart, some people were wearing masks, but the video I saw last night was something completely different. It was a complete violation of public health, “Orin said.
Hundreds of people were packed inside on Saturday night. Masks were a rarity and a social distance practically non-existent.
“It’s so surprising to see that they will ignore their community like that. I feel disregarded,” Orin said.
She said the move to allow crowds of that size felt like “a step back in our timeline to get back to normal.”
In the last year, other restaurants and music venues have faced legal battles over violations of the state health order.
So far, I have not heard from local or state health departments about this massive gathering. Grizzly Rose also chose not to comment.
“I don’t know how I feel about fines and violations, but what I saw last night shouldn’t happen and I want it to stop,” Orin said.
