Grand Theft Auto V, now available on two generations of platforms, with a version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S on the way, refuses to die. The game’s latest contribution to the online zeitgeist is the short scene in which the supporting character Lamar Davis fries the protagonist Franklin Clinton, who became the basis of an extremely popular meme.
This morning, PlayStation Haven uploaded a video to YouTube Black Jesus stars Gerald “Slink” Johnson and Shawn Fonteno recreate their roles as Lamar and Franklin.

No one knows how to hurt you like friends and family.
Although this was the logical end point for the joke format, the exchanges of models and sometimes even amateur voice actors replaced Lamar with everyone from Kermit Frog to Yakuza protagonist Kazuma Kiryu in the last months. Again, many of these videos are NSFW, but there is only something Spongebob square pants saying “yee yee-ass haircut” that demands to be pursued.
It is difficult to identify a detail or a key moment that made this scene grow in agreement with the creators and the online audience. The whole thing is hilarious, which is a huge plus, but Lamar completes an almost lyrical outburst with an insult to the song. Personally, I’m always looking forward to “Frank?” in the end, especially when Lamar was replaced by someone as out of place as Darth Vader or Snow White.
Whatever the case, at least we have one more thing to distract from the World of Hell.
