Governor Pedro Pierluisi announced today the creation, by executive order, of the Reconstruction Council of Puerto Rico, whose function will be to accelerate the recovery and reconstruction processes of the island.

Executive Order 2021-011 states that it is a priority for this administration to accelerate the financing and implementation of recommendations, consultations, permits and the construction of critical and urgent infrastructure projects to address disaster damage. natural.

The Reconstruction Council, which will be chaired by Secretary of State and engineer with more than 30 years of experience, Larry Seilhamer Rodríguez, will be made up of other Puerto Rican government officials whose agencies are linked to the reconstruction process. These agencies are: Central Bureau for Recovery and Reconstruction (COR3), Department of Housing, Puerto Rico Infrastructure Financing Authority, Department of Transportation and Public Works, Department of Economic Development and Trade, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Education, Electricity Authority, Aqueduct and Sewerage Authority and Assistant Secretary to the Government for priority projects.

The Reconstruction Council shall identify and recommend the various critical reconstruction projects and their level of priority and issue a report to the Governor and the Governor’s Secretary setting out the project recommendations and order of priority.
