Government fails to meet its own Cifco hospital, phase 3, deadline | News from El Salvador

The Minister of Public Works explained that it will be completed in the first quarter of this year. MEPs emphasized that there was no impact study on the hospital’s environment.

Members of the Special Committee to investigate the systematic irregular actions of the Executive, which affect the treatment, prevention and control of the pandemic, asked the Ministers of Public Works, Romeo Rodríguez; and from Health, Francisco Alabí, for delaying the delivery of phase 3 of El Salvador Hospital.

The head of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) avoided the question of delay, in addition to saying that the legislators did not give money for the repair of the hospital network or for carrying out activities for the pandemic.

Minister Rodríguez replied that the first two phases of the hospital have already been completed and that phase 3 will be a permanent structure to provide care and that they have already entered the closure phase (temporary barriers that are placed around the work), “We hope to conclude it in the first quarter of this year, as we have mentioned on various occasions “, said the head of MOP.

MP Elizabeth Gómez recalled that the Assembly had approved $ 15 million for the government in El Salvador’s hospital, in addition to the fact that it had recently given $ 60 million for its operation.

“Between March and April, we approved several budgets for you (the government) because you had no money, so how do you explain everything you did,” said FMLN Deputy Elizabeth Gómez.
