Government announces up to $ 0.17 fuel price increase starting this week

This is the seventh increase in fuel prices so far this year. The increase is due to higher oil demand and a reduction in production agreed by OPEC.

There is no good news for drivers this week. The Ministry of Economy announced on Monday that gasoline and diesel will have a significant increase of up to $ 0.17 per gallon at gas stations.

This is the seventh consecutive increase in fuel prices so far this year, which is already beginning to have an impact on sectors such as taxi drivers and formal and informal freight transport.

According to the new reference prices that will take effect from Tuesday, superior gasoline will increase 0.17 USD / gallon in the central and western part of the country, while in the eastern part it will increase $ 0.16 / gallon.

Ordinary gasoline will increase 0.17 USD / gallon in the central and western part of the country, in the eastern part it will increase $ 0.16 / gallon while low sulfur diesel will increase 0.08 USD / gallon in the central part of the country, in the western and eastern areas will increase 0.07 USD / gallon.

With these new prices, the gallon of special gasoline increases to $ 3.60 in the central area, $ 3.61 in the western area and up to $ 3.64 in the eastern area.

15 days ago, the increase per gallon reached 0.20 USD.

Other prices per gallon of regular gasoline and diesel are also between $ 2.98 and $ 3.47 maximum.

Do you know the four taxes you pay for every gallon of fuel?

According to the economy, growth is mainly due to three factors:

* Generalized losses in March in strategic oil reserves, reported by the International Energy Agency (IEA).

* The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) predicts an increase in the demand for oil and derivatives.

* Losses in the purchasing power of the dollar against other currencies.

According to Economics, prices that are published are suggested and the service stations are the ones that establish them, depending on the demand and supply. In El Salvador, liquid fuel prices are liberalized.
