Cassidy is one of seven Republicans convinced by the House managers’ arguments and voted to condemn Trump by 57-43 votes.

Cassidy’s decision came as a surprise to some after he was seen with a pronunciation that showed support for Trump’s acquittal, but his communications director stated that Cassidy had made two statements, one for and against Trump’s conviction.

Cassidy has previously said that the House Managers “did very well” with their arguments for Trump’s guilt.

However, the arguments were left behind, as 17 Republicans would have had to side with the Democrats for a conviction.

Since Trump has not been convicted, he is allowed to run for political office again. He has made it clear that he will remain involved in the political realm, but it is not clear what his future plans are with the Republican Party.
