Goldman Sachs Group Inc. tries to invest in digital assets, the latest move by an American bank to enter the world of cryptocurrencies, the CoinDesk website reported.

The Bank of New York issued a request for information to at least one cryptographic custody player at the end of 2020, according to the portal, which quoted an unidentified person. The Goldman initiative was part of a broad digital strategy, CoinDesk said.

Goldman Sachs representatives did not immediately respond to messages requesting comments during the weekend.

The possible entry by Goldman would be the most recent in a broader trend to bring digital currency into US banking services. Earlier this month, Anchorage Digital Bank became the first cryptocurrency company earn a charter from the Currency Controller’s Office.
