“Glacier Bro” is believed to have died after falling into icy water

A Chinese influencer known as “Glacier Bro” is presumed dead after he was last seen in the video losing his balance near the icy waters of Tibet.

Wang Xiangjun – who won an online watch by posting videos about visiting glaciers – was exploring a waterfall when he disappeared on December 20 in Lhari County in northern Tibet, the BBC reported.

Filming posted on Chinese social media platforms showed the 30-year-old slipping near the base of the waterfall in the rapidly flowing cold waters, the outlet reported.

Local authorities said they launched a search but could not find him.

However, a local official involved in the efforts said that it is “almost impossible” for the influencer to survive.

“It could be under an ice floe. The water is 10 to 20 meters (32 to 65 feet) deep, “the official told China’s state-run Global Times.

His brother posted a statement on Wang’s social media accounts confirming his death, the Independent reported.

“My brother lies forever in his favorite waterfall,” the message read.

“He was obsessed with glaciers all his life while devoting himself to them and this was the best place for him to rest,” he continued.
