Gervonta “Tank” Davis and the defense of the title of both Charlo twins (Jermell and Jermall) headline Showtime’s fighting program.
Davis will face Mario Barrios on May 26 for an inferior WBA junior welterweight title. Barrios (26-0, 17 KOs) currently holds the WBA belt no. 2 in the division, while Davis (24-0, 23 KOs) rises by two weight classes after defeating Leo Santa Cruz in a fight. title in October. 2020.
Jermell Charlo (34-1, 18 KOs) and Brian Castano (17-0-1, 12 KOs) will fight on July 17 to crown an undisputed junior middleweight champion. Charlo is the IBF, WBA and WBC division champion, while Castano holds the WBO belt.
Jermall Charlo (31-0, 22 KOs), considered one of the best middleweight in the world, will fight Juan Montiel on June 19 in a fight with a unique historical context. This date is also a celebration of the time when the end of slavery was officially declared in Texas in 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Both Charlo twins will fight in Houston.
Other title fights include Luis Nery against Brandon Figueroa for the WBC Junior Featherweight belt on May 15 and Nordine Oubaali-Nonito Donaire on May 29 for the WBC Bantamweight title.
