Former Republican President of the United States, George W. Bush, plans to attend Democratic president-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20, a Bush spokesman said Tuesday.
“The President and Ms. Bush look forward to returning to the Capitol for the inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris,” said spokesman Freddy Ford.
This will be the eighth swearing-in ceremony that the Bushes will attend, Ford said. The day after Joe Biden’s victory was announced, on November 7, George W. Bush called to congratulate him.
“Attending the peaceful transfer of power is a highlight of our democracy that will never go out of style,” he added. in a clear allusion to Donald Trump, who still refuses to acknowledge his defeat.
