Biddy Biddy Biddy. The classic SF “Buck Rogers” will be thawed again, but this time in the 21st century, with great star power.
George Clooney joined the upcoming limited series as executive producer, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who added that while there is currently no acting contract, it could be a “potential main vehicle” for the veteran actor.
Legendary develops the adaptation, written by Brian K. Vaughan, as a possible jumping off point for a later film and anime outside of filming.
Buck Rogers first appeared in the pulpy scientific journal Amazing Stories in 1928 as a war veteran who fell into a coma and woke up in the 25th century. A popular comic strip, a radio series, and a 12-part series were released over the years. 1930.
The character’s latest screen release, “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century,” began as a television movie pilot in 1979 and then aired for two seasons on NBC. In this cult classic, Buck, played by Gil Gerard, was a NASA Air Force pilot / astronaut who was frozen in space in 1987 for more than 500 years.
Most recently, Clooney starred in, directed and produced the dystopian “Midnight Sky”, his debut project for Netflix.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait and see if he will wear Gerard’s comfortable costumes as a character.
