Randy Malcom, Alexander Delgado, Yotuel, Descemer Bueno joined in an emotional video call with members of the San Isidro Movement Luis Manuel Otero and Maykel Osorbo, after the presentation of the video new theme Homeland and life.
Both Osorbo and Otero Alcántara emphasized that almost all of them were people of color, making art for a free Cuba and reaffirming that they are more connected than ever.
Before the release of the video, directed by Asiel Babastro, Descemer stressed that it was a unique moment that will mark a before and after for Cubans.
For his part, Asiel Babastro said that a government that lies to its people does not deserve to be in power. “I want to see a country of people laughing, of happy people,” said the artist.
Alexander Delgado pointed out that the play reflects the feelings of many Cubans outside and inside the island, many of whom are afraid to express themselves as they once did.
He also wanted to make it clear that they are not funded by anyone and that it is a song addressed to the people of Cuba, a daily victim of police abuse and censorship.
Likewise, Randy Malcom thanked all those who joined that production and assured that it is a theme that reflects everyone’s feelings.
During the video call with members of the San Isidro Movement, the Cuban government cut off telecommunications in the country.
The theme Homeland and Life promises to become an anthem for Cubans who want a change on the island.
“The five-nine and I double-two finished / passed sixty years ago with the domino locked,” says the choir.
The verses also say: “No more lying / People ask for freedom, no more doctrine / Let us no longer shout homeland or death but Homeland and life.”
The song appeared on February 16 and is accompanied by a recently released video, which includes important scenes from recent times in Cuba.
