NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 … (as if the new name wasn’t puzzling enough) is an old game with a pretty complex background. The action-adventure role-playing game (RPG) is essentially a remake of the 2010 original NieR Replicant this was released in Japan, which you probably would have missed, even if you played all the games in the franchise.
