Prosecutors in Georgia opened a criminal investigation into the infamous phone call of former President Trump in January, in which he asked the chief state election official to “find” the voters to reverse his loss in the state. Conformable New York TimesFani Willis, the newly elected district attorney for Fulton County – which includes Atlanta, the state capital – has sent letters to state officials requesting that documents related to the appeal be kept. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who was at the other end of the line for Trump’s call, was among those who received a letter. Separately, Raffensperger’s office opened an administrative investigation into the phone call on Monday.
Jason Miller, Trump’s chief adviser, said in a statement to The Daily Beast: “The time here is not accidental, given today’s removal process. This is simply the latest attempt by Democrats to gain political points by continuing the witch hunt against President Trump, and everyone sees through that. ”
