Freddy the Great Dane, the tallest dog in the world, has died

The chick, who lived in Essex, England, along with its owner, Claire Stoneman, measured 103.5 cm from leg to hoof, or the highest place on the back of a dog. When standing, he rose over people to a massive height of 226 cm (7 feet and 5.5 inches)

Height, Freddy was sitting somewhere between the great NBA, LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal.

The dog lived to be 8 and a half years old, Guinness World Records said on Wednesday. Most great Danes live between eight and 10 years, according to the American Kennel Club.
“He was my life. My reason. My joy. My annoyance,” Claire Stoneman told Guinness World Records. “My happiness and my final sadness. He was my Danish heart. One in a million and loved by the whole world.”
Freddy the Great Dane left with owner Claire Stoneman and Fleur's sister.

“He was not only the tallest dog, but the dog with the greatest love and the greatest heart. A total bugger who was hand-fed,” she added.

Freddy was once the laughing stock and didn’t even manage to feed his mother, according to Stoneman, who said he adopted her weeks earlier than he should have.

“Freddy was such a gentle giant and it was always a pleasure to see him bond with you,” said Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records.

“I can hardly believe he was the bedrock. Freddy brought a smile to everyone’s faces and will miss everyone at Guinness World Records. I’m just glad we had the opportunity to celebrate his record immensity in books and share his story with millions of people around the world. “

Stoneman later said in a Facebook post that he “fought with tears that will not stop falling,” but finds comfort in knowing how much Freddy was loved.
