Observations from the Mets’ 5-3 spring training win on Tuesday at the Marlins at Clover Park on Tuesday.
On a mission
Francisco Lindor hit his fourth homer in five games, leading the Mets to a 5-3 victory. The shortstop also doubled as part of its 3 to 4 performance and holds a 1,074 OPS in the Grapefruit League. Lindor and the Mets continue to discuss a potential contract extension.
Stroman fight
Marcus Stroman allowed three rounds on nine shots in five innings. The Marlins scored all their runs against the right in the fourth and fifth rounds, as they increased their pitch to 76.
Caught my attention
Mike Piazza, in camp this week as a special instructor, worked with Kevin Pillar on swing mechanics before the game. Pillar won 2-4 against the Mariners and raised his Grapefruit League average to .324.
Wednesday’s schedule
Taijuan Walker is the scheduled starting player against the Jupiter Cardinals. Others scheduled to play for the Mets include Dellin Betances, Miguel Castro and Jeurys Familia.
