Four young girls were arrested Saturday in the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old girl in a Louisiana Walmart, authorities said.
The girls, aged 12 to 14, were engaged in a fight with the older victim at the Lake Charles store, the Calcasieu Parish sheriff’s office said on Facebook on Sunday.
The victim died in a local hospital.
One of the suspects was charged with manslaughter, authorities said. The other three are charged with principal to second-degree murder.
Sheriff Tony Mancuso of Calcasieu parish condemned the violence.
“This is the third murder case in six months involving young people aged 11 to 16,” Mancuso said, according to WWL-TV.
“They come from all backgrounds, all races. I feel like we have a problem in our community that we need to address and address. “
Mancuso pleaded for help from parents in the community.
“I’m asking you tonight that our parents take matters in hand,” Mancuso said, the outlet reported.
“This is not something we can control ourselves,” he said. ‘I just don’t feel like this is a police case. This is a parenting problem. “
