Four recruits from 2022 that Longhorns should push

Recovering Texas on the national recruiting stage was one of the biggest tasks Steve Sarkisian had to perform early. State recruitment has always been going to work out for a program like Texas, but the ability to dive into other states is what builds championship-quality national teams.

A big step was taken on Saturday, when five-star defender Maalik Murphy was hired in Longhorns. He ranks 2nd as a pro-style defender in the country coming out of Gardena, California. Murphy has one of the highest ceilings in the entire 2022 class, but he will bring much more than just talent on the field.

Recruiting momentum is a real thing and Texas needs to be able to capitalize after bringing in a great defender. Sarkisian has the ability to get some of the best offensive talent in the country thanks to his Alabama resume. Bringing a five-star defender and the top of the state back is an excellent base. Now, the Longhorns have to go after the players of skillful position and offensive lineman.

Here are four perspectives that Texas should promote after Murphy’s engagement.
