Superb British cursor from Microsoft Forza Horizon 4 comes on Steam on March 9, the company announced today. It marks the latest in a long line of primary Microsoft games coming on rival platforms and the first time Power the game ever appeared on the Valve storefront.
Steam version of Forza Horizon 4 will include cross-play with all other versions, including on the console and on smartphones via xCloud streaming. It will also continue to be updated in the same way as the console version, starting with a Hot Wheels Legends car package that will come in the near future.
Forza Horizon 4 has received a lot of updates since it was originally on Xbox One and PC through the Microsoft Store, inclusive the boring but picturesque expanse of Fortune Island back in 2018 and a Lego expansion in 2019. Forza Horizon 4 Makers Playground Games even added a Battle Royale mode at some point.
Microsoft has brought many of its games to Steam lately, including Gears 5, Halo: Master Chief Collection, The sea of thieves, and others. While these games were already available on the computer through the Microsoft Store, Steam releases led to additional sales and, most importantly, a new source of new players. Microsoft announced last year that The sea of thieves sold another million copies in the first few weeks after coming to the Valve platform.
It is not clear where the rest leave this Power series. 2017 is more focused on sim racer Forza Motorsport 7 It is not yet on Steam and it is unclear whether the pursuit, currently titled Forza Motorsport, will be available there as well. The game has been revealed at the Xbox Series X showcase last summer, although it does not yet have a release date.

Update – 14:08 ET, 08/02/21: In a follow-up statement for Kotaku, Microsoft has confirmed that Forza Horizon 4 will not support cross-progression and any save data from the existing version of the game will not be transferred to the Steam version:
‘Forza Horizon 4 ‘ on Steam it is considered a separate purchase outside the Xbox ecosystem, although cross-play is enabled for online players to automatically share sessions on platforms. Saving files and overall progress on Steam is completely unique and separate from any pre-existing save file associated with a player’s Xbox Live game tag. However, two exceptions that will be transferred from Xbox to Steam are the leaderboards and clubs, both of which are one for each gamertag.
