Former “I’m a Mac” actor Justin Long casts the shadow of the Apple Silicon M1 in the new Intel advertising campaign

Intel turned to former actor “I’m a Mac” Justin Long in a series of new commercials in which Apple’s latest custom M1 processors are thrown as inferior to newer laptops powered by Intel processors.

Known for his role in the popular TV commercial “Get a Mac” in the 2000s, Long starred in a series of commercials called “Justin Gets Real” on Intel’s YouTube channel, with each video featuring “… a Justin – just a real person who makes a real comparison between Mac and PC. ”

In a single ad, Long promotes the flexibility of Windows laptops, especially Lenovo Yoga 9i compared to the MacBook Pro. In another video, Long meets a computer user game on the MSI Gaming Stealth 15M laptop, powered by an Intel Core i7 processor. Long then asks for a Mac, before agreeing with the PC user that “no one is playing on a Mac.”

Other advertisements include long nuances on Intel’s behalf compared to Apple’s lack of touchscreen Mac computers, the inability to connect multiple external displays to ‌M1‌ Macs, and the variety of different options available for Intel-powered laptops.

Intel launched a similar marketing campaign in February, with a series of tweets highlighting the “shortcomings” of Apple’s ‌M1‌-powered Macs compared to Intel-powered computers. In November, Apple launched its first Apple Silicon and is expected to make the complete transition of its entire line from Intel in the next few years.

It’s not the first time Long has appeared in advertising campaigns for rival Apple. In 2017, the actor starred in a series of Huawei commercials promoting the Mate 9 smartphone.
