On Monday, Whaley continued 93.7 Fan and was asked how he will resolve the situation with defender Ben Roethlisberger and his contract. Whaley was tactical but straightforward, saying that the team would go without Roethlisberger.
I personally would say “Thank you, Ben, you are the best, we would not have two Super Bowl trophies without you, you will be a first Hall of Famer vote, we will play in the Hall of Fame game when you are included, we will return to put you on the wall, but thanks for your service, we’ll have to go in a different direction for both of you.
Steelers is in a difficult place with Roethlisberger, who wants to return, and with his massive contract. Pittsburgh is definitely approaching this as a business decision and, as we have seen in the past, when it comes to star players, the front office has no doubt going without them.
