In the holiday for the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte on this day, Dominican football managed a historic 0-0 draw with Serbia at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium.
In the second friendly match of coach Jacques Passy, the national team gave a seat of tenacity and endurance.
The Creoles faced a rival ranked among the top 35 in the world with a commendable work by goalkeeper Rafael Díaz and an intense “Joseo” from the Creole defenders.
In the opening minutes, both teams had offensive advances and the Dominican Republic lost an opportunity when Dorny Romero lost a pass near the area in the 10th minute.
In the 14th minute, Diaz tried a powerful shot from the Serbian player Jovan Nisic. At this point, the Serbs were more fluid with dangerous arrivals who clashed with an active defense and the excellent work of the Dominican goalkeeper.
Serbia’s striker Velko Birmacevic was hit on the left wing, but his attempts were unsuccessful.
After the break, the Dominicans were encouraged and competed for the ball face to face with the Europeans.
