ORLANDO, Fla. – Coronavirus vaccinations continue throughout the Sunshine State region and in some counties, with little or no notice.
In Central Florida, Lake County officials spent less than 20 minutes before immunizing residents and nonresidents with the COVID-19 vaccine began.
The county received 12,600 doses on Tuesday afternoon and decided to administer 800-1,000 doses on Wednesday morning, making the announcement the same morning.

Residents in the county were confused after officials changed the vaccination process to avoid appointments and said they were unsure when more doses would be available.
An hour later, Lake County Health Department officials said the vaccination site at Clermont Arts & Recreation Center had already reached capacity.
Health officials have said they will evaluate the vaccine on a daily basis and do not intend to announce the distribution until the day it happens.
Publix will begin offering vaccinations this week after Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a pilot program with the supermarket chain, but only in three Florida counties.

Cases
The Florida Department of Health reported 17,783 new cases on Wednesday, bringing the state’s total to 1,409,906 cases from March.
deaths
Florida reported 132 new virus-related deaths on Wednesday. This means that at least 22,647 people have died from coronavirus in the state, including 330 nonresidents who died in Florida.

hospitalization
As of Wednesday afternoon, there were currently 7,303 people with the virus hospitalized in Florida, according to the State Agency for Health Care Administration.
Since March, 64,321 People have been hospitalized in Florida after complications caused by coronavirus. This number includes 439 patients who were recently hospitalized because of the virus, according to the daily report of the health department.
Positivity rate
The percentage of positive results varied from 8.02% to 23.25% in the last two weeks and was 12.59% on Tuesday.
Health officials say the rate should remain between 5% and 10% to prove that a community has control over the virus and fights infections.
vaccinations
The Florida Department of Health recently began launching a daily report on statewide COVID-19 vaccines. As of Wednesday afternoon, 329,060 people had been vaccinated in Florida.
