Florida reports 17,000 new cases after it did not release Christmas data

ORLANDO, Fla. – One day after Christmas, the test sites reopened to long lines and waiting times of almost three hours.

The Florida Department of Health has not released any new data on Christmas Day. The following information includes data from 24 and 25 December.

Cases

The Florida Department of Health reported 17,042 new cases on Saturday, bringing the state total to 1,264,588 cases since March. New cases include totals on Thursday and Friday.

Florida reported 142 new virus deaths Saturday. That means at least 21,437 people have died in connection with the coronavirus across the state, including 302 non-residents who died in Florida.

hospitalization

As of Saturday afternoon, there is at the moment 5649 people with the virus hospitalized in Florida, according to the State Agency for Healthcare Administration, an increase of 32 patients within 24 hours.

From March, 61,288 people were hospitalized in Florida after complications caused by coronavirus. This number includes the 188 people who were recently hospitalized because of the virus, according to the daily report of the health department.

Positivity rate

The percentage of positive results varied from 7.86% to 9.82% in the last two weeks and was 8.00% on Friday.

vaccinations

The Florida Department of Health recently began launching a daily report on statewide COVID-19 vaccines. As of Saturday, 113,946 people have been vaccinated in Florida.
