When Kolby Parker first told police how his 77-year-old grandfather, Ronal Wells Sr., had died, he claimed he stabbed the older man in self-defense after being attacked. But when Parker pulled Wells’s severed ears from his pockets while he was being questioned, they knew there was more to it. Once involved in the gruesome murder, Parker is said to have jumped to a deputy sheriff in the room in an attempt to grab the officer’s taser and gun, the police said. Orlando Sentinel, who reported that Parker subsequently confessed to smashing his grandfather’s head with a baseball bat before stabbing him several times with a butcher knife and then cutting off his ears. Parker explained that “it was his time to go,” according to the arrest report issued by the SentinelWhen searching the bedroom in Wells’s home where Parker had lived, investigators say they found an apron with plastic, human bloody ears attached and adorned with the phrase “ The Family Butcher. ”
Parker is charged with manslaughter and is held without bail.
