Five reasons why you might want to consider AirPods Max

Since the launch of AirPods Max last week, we’ve made a few videos that share a short practice with Apple’s new earphones and a comparison of them with other popular noise canceling headphones from Bose, Sony and Sennheiser.

There has been a lot of debate about whether irAirPods Max‌ is worth their price of $ 550, and the value will always be a personal decision, so in our most recent video we decided to look at five reasons why you might want to think about buying a new ‌AirPods Max‌.

Build / Comfort

For people who will spend quite a lot of time using headphones, the comfort and quality of construction are obviously key factors in determining whether they will have a good experience with a particular set. Comfort will vary from person to person depending on head shape, head size and other factors, but we’veAirPods Max‌ is incredibly comfortable.

Mesh earphones provide a good seal, yet allow some breathing, which helps reduce perspiration, sometimes experience with other materials, such as leather. And if your ears wear out, the irAirPods Max‌ magnetic attachment system makes them incredibly easy to change.

IrAirPods Max‌ are made mostly of metal, with aluminum ears and telescopic stainless steel arms, which gives them a quality feeling that is pleasant to the touch. That metallic part means, however, that irAirPods Max‌ is much heavier than many competing headphones, which can be a problem for some users. But I found that the mesh headband does an excellent job of distributing that weight on the head for maximum comfort.

Noise cancellation

One of the main reasons why people buy headphones is for active noise cancellation (ANC) and we found that ‌AirPods Max‌ offers excellent capabilities in this regard. From our experience, it is difficult to hear anything from our surroundings while wearing irAirPods Max‌ with ANC on.

Of course, you can turn off the ANC if you want to be able to hear more around you, but there is also a transparency mode that keeps the ANC on, but the sounds surrounding the sound and I found that it allows us to hear enough without being too much of a a distraction.

Audio quality

While ‌AirPods Max‌ does not match high-quality wired headphones, we were impressed with the sound that ‌AirPods Max‌ can transmit via Bluetooth. The sound profile of irAirPods Max‌ is well balanced and not too aggressive at maximum or minimum levels.

With H1 chips in each ear cup, irAirPods Max‌ uses computational sound to adjust what you hear in real time, customizing it to fit your head and other factors. And, although we do not recommend increasing the volume too much, we have found that the sound quality remains solid even at higher volume levels, providing a clear sound without distortion.

Chip H1

Speaking of these H1 chips, they offer more than good audio quality. They are also the key component that integrates “AirPods Max” into the Apple ecosystem. As with AirPods and recent Beats headphones, the H1 chip supports easy pairing and seamless audio switching between devices connected to your iCloud account. If you listen to music on your iPhone and then lift your iPad to start watching a video, ‌AirPods Max‌ can automatically switch to start playing audio on ‌iPad‌.

All of these are customizable, of course, so you can select the devices you want to be able to automatically download as audio sources, and even if you turn off automatic switching for a device, it only takes a few taps to switch manually.

Spatial audio

Finally, there is Spatial Audio, a new feature recently launched by Apple on AirPods Pro and which is also included on irAirPods Max‌. Spatial Audio offers a captivating 3D audio experience with compatible content, and although we initially thought it would be pretty weird, we quickly turned out to be wrong. Indeed, it must be experienced to be believed, but it makes you feel that the sound comes from around you, but anchored by the device on which you are watching the content.

So, if you watch a show on Apple TV + on ‌iPad‌, for example, you get a surround sound experience, which is very pleasant in itself, but if you turn your head or move ‌iPad‌, the sound adjusts on the go to fit with the relative orientation of the head and the “iPad”. It’s a remarkably good experience, which will make you think that your headphones have stopped working and that PiPad‌ is outputting sound from its own speakers.

Wrap up

These are our top five reasons why you might want to invest in “AirPods Max.” Yes, their $ 550 price may be a little hard to swallow when competitors reach $ 350 or less, but if you’re heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, the combination of comfort, build quality, and features might be enough to balance ‌AirPods max.
