Firefighters control the fire after the explosion at a factory in Carolina

The Fire Department’s office, along with Carolina municipal firefighters, controlled the fire that broke out after an explosion at the Curtis Instruments, Inc. plant on Cuatro Ruedas Street in the Sabana Abajo neighborhood of the city’s industrial area.

Carolina Area Fire Department Commander Julio Gastón told El Nuevo Día that when firefighters went to the scene, they found a burning car. “We got to that place, we took out all the staff, we put it in a safe area, we made sure there was no staff there and then the Fire Department, along with the municipal firefighters from Carolina, proceeded to put out the fire.” , he said.

“Everything is fine, everything is under control. We are at our site providing ventilation to remove all smoke from the area, “Gastón added, indicating that no injuries were reported from the incident. There were about 70-80 employees on site.

Earlier, police officer José Catalano said only two people were affected: one was nervous and the other inhaled smoke.

Gastón said it was not yet known what could have caused the explosion and the estimated losses. “This would be the responsibility of the factory administration itself, making it known how much the losses would be, but we (the state firefighters) are also reporting on the incidence and providing an approximation of the losses.”

He noted that the area of the explosion was not very large, but covered an area with high-cost cars.

The incident was reported around 13:39 and the authorities mobilized immediately.
