Finally, PC players will receive free Hitman 2 levels in Hitman 3

Last week, IO Interactive said that players should own Hitman 2 in the Epic Games Store if they want to import their levels into Hitman 3. That was pretty rubbish – for Steam game owners, it meant that either you couldn’t have those levels or you will have to buy it again. Fortunately, IO is looking for a solution and guarantees that players will not have to buy the game again in the end.

“We continue to work with our partners to allow PC gamers who own Hitman 1 or Hitman 2 to import locations from those games to at no extra cost, ” they said on Sunday.

“We guarantee that the players will do it NOT you have to redeem these games. ”

(Accented with uppercase and lowercase letters in IO.)

The problem is that both Hitman 1 and 2 were originally released on Steam, while Hitman 3 is released exclusively as Epic. In August, IO announced that “locations 1 and 2 could be imported at no additional cost to existing owners”. But they revealed on Friday that this doesn’t matter to Steam owners and that they should buy Hitman 2 Access Pass on Epic to get those locations.

However, IO is working with Epic to sort things out and say the change will be released “in the coming weeks” – which is inconvenient, given the launch of Hitman 3 in just two days, on Wednesday, January 20th.

“We never want gamers to feel compelled to buy back content from the Epic game store they bought from another PC store so they can access the features of a new game.” Epic said Sunday.

Hitman 1 GOTY Access Pass is still free for PC gamers who pre-order Hitman 3 or buy it within 10 days of launch. So at least you’ll have a few Hitman 1 levels to play until the Hitman 2 drama is dealt with.
