There is a new one Final Fantasy XIV the expansion will take place later this year, but first we have some free ends to tie. The third and last tranche of Deny-raid themed series and the first of a two-part update leading to this fall Endwalker expansion arrives on April 13, along with the open beta of the PlayStation 5 version of the game.

Entitled “Death Unto Dawn”, the 5.5 update gives FFXIV players more delicious content to consume while preparing the story and preparing for Endwalker its expansion and influx of new healers. Along with great things like new main story missions and the third chapter of the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse raid series, the patch will also do a bunch of small and fun things. Things like new performer actions, allowing bards to change instruments on the go while playing, and new dungeons added to the game’s “Explorer mode”, where players can leisurely walk through dangerous locations and take screenshots.

The patch will be released alongside the open beta for the PS5 version of the game. Players who already have the PS4 version will be able to download the upgrade and try it for free, enjoying faster load times, better frame rates and support for 4K resolution.

Here is a summary of all the features that appear in patch 5.5, “Death Unto Dawn”.

  • New main scenario missions – Updating the story – divided into two parts – will pave the way for Endwalker story.
  • New Alliance Raid – The third chapter of the YoRHa alliance raid series: Dark Apocalypse, inspired by NieR.
  • Sorrow of Werlyt Search Line Update – The thrilling conclusion of the search for the Warrior of Light and Gaius to counter the development project of the Empire’s warmachina.
  • New attempt: the bridge of the clouds – Players can face the scary diamond weapon in this last process, which will be available in both normal and extreme difficulties.
  • New Dungeon: Paglth’an – Players can approach this new dungeon with fellow adventurers or a party of non-player characters through the compatibility of the Trust system.
  • “Save the Queen” Questline update – In addition to adding a new field area, “Zadnor”, players can upgrade their endurance weapons in the final and strongest stage.
  • The new unrealistic process – The next powered version of an existing primal will be released to level 80 heroes, giving players a new challenge and the chance to collect unique prizes.

  • Ishgard restoration update – The locals from Firmament will periodically hold Fêtes to celebrate the completion of the restoration.
  • Explorer Mode Update – The Mod Explorer feature will be expanded to include additional dungeons. Explorer mode allows players to explore safe dungeons to capture stunning and fun screenshots, while allowing the use of mounts and minions. Players will now be able to use performance actions while in dungeons, such as playing musical instruments.
  • Performance action updates – Players will now be able to change instruments at any time while playing and a new instrument will be added.
  • Post adjustments for PvE and PvP actions, New custom deliveries, ocean fishing updates, new mounts and more.
