Federal finance agents were involved in deadly shootings in Coral Gables

CORAL SHADES, Fla. – According to US immigration and customs enforcement, federal agents shot and killed a person who brandished a weapon in Coral Gables on Friday.

Officer Kelly Denham, a Coral Gables police spokeswoman, said the shooting took place near the intersection of Mantua Avenue and Alahambra Circle.

Special agent Anthony Salisbury of ICE Homeland Security Investigations Miami said the agents were part of a large-scale financial investigation.

A woman who lives in the area said she heard “commotion” and screams for the first time, and when she walked out to investigate, she heard five to six shots. Salisbury said there were ICE HSI agents who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and police recovered the person’s gun.

The crime scene tape showed two silver vehicles: a Chrysler minivan with bullet holes and a pickup truck. Officers placed a yellow tarpaulin to cover the body in the minivan. The driver’s side window was shattered and there was glass on the floor and in the driver’s seat.
